“Always The Hard Way” Demos

Always The Hard Way was our first record without Todd on guitar and we didn’t know what was gonna happen writing wise. We were hoping Doug, Carl or Frank would be able to do some writing but things weren’t progressing. I wrote a few songs and demoed them to show Scott. I had no idea what he was going to think. I just remember trying to riff out thinking “what would Todd do?”. The first batch of songs included One Step Behind, Hell to Pay and Smash Through You. Scott really liked them and we just pushed on writing. I defiantly felt a lot of pressure to live up to previous records and I know people were wondering what it was gonna be like without Todd being a part of it. We wrote and wrote and recorded a lot of demos. These recordings were done at the end of the writing process as we had narrowed down to around 15 songs. These 11 tracks were the ones that had vocals on them. We recorded everything at Blood Tracks (aka my parents garage) sometime in 2005 before heading to Massachusetts to record the album with Zeuss!
